Farewell London

Image
A fond farewell to London, as we return to South Africa after almost 3 years in the UK this time.  The vibrancy of this city is amazing and we dearly miss our good friends and the services and brunch at HTB !  It's hardly possible to describe our experiences in one blog entry, but we have so much to be thankful for and will always treasure the time of our lives spent here.  Thank you London... Until we meet again! Thames, with view of city and Tower Bridge at sunset Entrance of St Thomas' Hospital, London.

New CD Cover Image

After a long silence, we have a lot of catching up to do!  The first of which is to share with you our excitement about the brand new CD released by KerkSonderMure (ChurchWithoutWalls) .  We are delighted to have taken the cover image of this album and would like to congratulate them with a great production!

Nene Valley Cottages

Image
I love the idea of a quiet weekend away, but dread searching through website after website to find the perfect place.  What a great relief (and excitement!) to stumble across this gem on the Premier Cottages website , located only 90 min drive from London.  The warm welcome we received upon arrival set the scene for a beautifully serene experience.  The cottages  offer glorious views over the Nene Valley, with miles of country tracks to roam. Surrounding canola fields gave us a sneak preview of the yellow splendour to come and the nearby ancient market town of Oundle offered not only lovely Jurassic limestone buildings, but also a magnificent cup of coffee at  Beans .

Photography and Critique Competition Winner - April 2009

ISO 50    1.6sec    F3.5 I'm delighted to have won this month's competition with this photo of the Millenium Bridge (London, UK)!  The theme was 'angles' and this shot is one of my personal favourites.  The converging lines lead the eye to an illuminated St Paul's Cathedral , one of London's famous landmarks.

I Found My Horn

Image
What a brilliant play! Jonathan Guy Lewis gives a magnificent performance in this laugh-out-loud one-man show of   I found my horn , based on the semi-autobiographical book by Jasper Rees.  It tells the story of a man who takes stock of the past and decides to take up the French Horn again after 22 years to play Mozart's Horn Concerto No.3 in a concert for the British Horn Society . The play was performed at a fundraising event for  Maternity Worldwide , the charity dedicated to saving mother's lives.  In Ethiopia 1 in 7 mothers die in pregnancy or childbirth compared to 1 in 4,600 in the UK.  Most of these deaths are easily avoidable through simple and cheap methods with a donation of only £1 providing antibiotics, £15 sponsoring a safe birth and £40 providing a ceasarean section etc.   Amongst other initiatives, Maternity Worldwide provides improved access to hospitals, skilled maternity staff and funding to those least able to pay for care. ...

Me'sha Bryan Band

ISO 640  1/250   F2.8 Isn't it amazing what musical talents are out there? Just last week, we photographed Me'sha Bryan's band and were blown away!  Fantastic original songs performed at a brilliant live venue ( Luminaire)  and we had great fun capturing the band with Me'sha (Vocals), Alan Mian (Bass), David Birnie (Electric Guitar) & Darren Ashford (Drums).  We wish them all the best for a bright future!
